We are excited to announce the opening of nominations for elders of City Church and will be accepting nominations until December 16, 2018. Please review the resources below to better understand the process, qualifications, and responsibilities of elders:

Officer Nomination, Training, and Approval Process

November 4, 2018:  Nomination period opens (online and print resources are available)

December 16, 2018:  Nomination period closes; Session begins interviews with each nominee before formal commitment to training

Early January, 2019:  Congregational announcement of nominees and invitation for specific prayer during training

Winter/spring 2019:  Training period, including topics of calling, character, convictions, church government, training in service, and philosophy of ministry; length will vary depending on number of nominees and the time required to complete the training elements

Late spring 2019:  Training period closes with written exams and interviews with the Session

TBD:  Announcement of congregational meeting, including a list of each elder candidate to be individually approved (30 days in advance)

TBD:  Congregational meeting to vote on approving each elder candidate; afterward the results will be communicated with each candidate by the Session to affirm calling

TBD:  Announcement of new elders and details about ordination and installation service

How to Submit a Nomination

Once you have carefully read through the nomination booklet and prayerfully considered whom you'd like to nominate, as well as spoken with each nominee, there are several ways to submit a nomination.

  1. Complete the form on the back of the nomination booklet, and hand it in to any member of the Session or to Christa Johnston, or bring it to the church office (1301 Riverside Dr.) between 9:30–4:30 p.m, M–F, or mail it to 1301 Riverside Dr. Nashville TN 37206; or,

  2. Complete the nomination form online (see button below); or,

  3. Email the Session with your nomination. Be sure to note whether you've read the nomination booklet as well as spoken to the potential nominee/s first.
